How to enroll

Admission requirements 

The degree program is open access. Students who intend to enroll in the Master's degree program in Sustainable Food Systems must, however, hold a Bachelor's degree, including one obtained according to the system prior to Ministerial Decree 509/1999, or a three-year university degree or other degree obtained abroad that is recognized as suitable.

Graduate students, including those from foreign universities, who have acquired the minimum curricular requirements of the L-9 (Industrial Engineering), L-25 (Forestry and agricultural sciences technologies) or L-26 (Food Sciences and Technologies) degree class, are eligible for this master's degree pathway. Enrollment of students graduated in other degree classes is possible subject to verification of the curricular pathway by the Educational Coordination Board, which verifies the disciplinary content, the congruity of the student's career, and the educational objectives of the individual teachings or activities that contributed to the achievement of credits. A B2 English language proficiency level is required for all students, which, where not officially certified, will be verified by placement test.


Specific admission (curriculum) requirements

In order to be admitted to the Master's Degree Course in Sustainable Food Systems, the student must possess a bachelor's degree (three-years university degree), or another degree obtained abroad, recognized as suitable by the competent bodies of the University of Naples Federico II. It is, in addition, required that the student possess certain curricular requirements and adequate personal preparation.

The required curricular requirements are automatically recognized for those who possess the degree obtained in degree’s classes L-9 (industrial Engineering), L-25 (Agricultural and Forestry Sciences) and L-26 (Food Technologies) and in the corresponding classes established according to the previous didactic system ex D.M. 509/99. Applicants who have obtained a bachelor's degree in other degree’s classes, whose course of study has allowed the acquisition of at least 24 University Credits in 4 different disciplinary scientific area among those listed below, are also admitted:

Adequate personal preparation will be verified through appropriate modalities regulated within the Didactic Regulations of the Course of Study. Finally, to enter the Master's Degree Course, the student must be able to use the English language fluently (level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), in written and oral form, also with reference to disciplinary lexicons.


Modalities for access to the Course of Study

Pre-enrollment and enrollment procedures follow a different pathways depending on whether students come from a EU or a non-EU country


Enrollment procedure: EU students

Call for applicants will be launched in mid-July and will close at the end of October. Students admitted will need to complete the administrative procedure for the enrollment.

Enrollment procedure: non-EU students

Candidates who choose to enroll for the program in Sustainable Food Systems are required to fill in the pre-enrollment form on Universitaly website. Please consider that Universitaly platform usually opens in March.

Upon the request students might be pre-accepted depending on whether they comply with the admission requirements. In case of pre-acceptance, candidates receive a pre-enrollment letter.

Scholarship Opportunity

10 scholarships for foreign students who plan to enroll in the master's degree program in Sustainable Food System are available for the current academic year:

- The scholarships are provided from the funds of the Department of Excellence project of which the course of study in Sustainable Food System is integral part;

- The call for applications provides for 10 scholarships of 12,000 euros, each divided the two years. The first, of 6,000 euros, at the beginning of the course and, the second, of an additional 6,000 euros at the beginning of the second year. The disbursement of the second annuity is subject to verification that the scholarship recipient has passed half of the educational credits offered the first year (28 CFUs);

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree, including a degree awarded according to the system prior to Ministerial Decree 509/1999, or a three-year University Diploma or other equivalent degree awarded abroad. The course is open access, but it is necessary to meet the minimum curricular requirements and be in possession of adequate personal preparation as reported in the Admissione requirement section.
