Knowning the Department and its surroundings
Agricultural Sciences is different from all the other Departments of Federico II. It looks like a
small Campus immersed in the greenery of the Bourbon Palace of
Portici, commissioned by Carlo of Bourbon in the eighteenth century and completed by King Ferdinand
simultaneously with the construction of the Royal Palace of Caserta. Way back in 1872
the High School for Agriculture was born which, starting from the academic year
1935-36, assumed the name of Faculty (since 2013 Department) of Agriculture of the University
of the Naples Studies.
The Royal Site today constitutes an area of notable naturalistic value characterized by a
dense woodland formation and a historic botanical garden. In the Royal Palace are located the Direction, the Central Library, the Orientation Office and some Sections.
The educational activities take place mainly in the Mascabruno Complex, a
building located in the park surrounding the palace.
